剩下的主力战船，分成左右两队，绕到“海蛇號”的侧后方，专门攻击它火炮覆盖不到的船尾薄弱处。

“贴上去！跳帮！”郑一一声令下，十余艘快船借著浪势，死死贴住了“海蛇號”的船舷。敢死队们拿著刀枪、勾索，踩著船板直接衝上了英军的甲板，短兵相接的喊杀声，盖过了海浪与火炮的轰鸣。
激战四个小时，“海蛇號”弹药告急，船体多处受损，皮尔斯舰长看著甲板上倒下的英军士兵，只能下令砍断著火的船帆，全速撤离，狼狈逃出了万山群岛。
此战，红旗帮以损失八艘小船、伤亡二十余人的极小代价，击沉英军附属小艇三艘，击伤皇家海军正规护卫舰，毙伤英军三十余人，硬生生打退了不可一世的英国皇家海军。
自此，再也没有西洋战舰，敢擅自闯入红旗帮的控制海域。

郑一望著海面连绵的帆影，忽然放声大笑，声浪撞在礁石上，又隨著海风传遍整片海湾：
“好！珠江口是我们的，粤东是朱濆的，闽浙是蔡牵的！
这东南万里海疆，从南到北，万顷波涛，全是我们中国人的海！

敢在我们的地盘上撒野，管他是英吉利的军舰，还是西班牙的大帆船，全都有来无回！”
